We often take a lot of time planning and decorating our homes in a way we feel comfortable so finding the right artwork to compliment that is key. If you took in consideration the colour scheme of specific rooms while choosing your artwork, then you are already halfway there. For example you could choose a painting that has elements of your colour scheme. Try not to over do it with matching you artwork to your colour scheme, as you will be at risk of your artwork getting lost in the rest of the room. The idea will be to make the art stand out on its own but yet be apart of it’s surroundings. When choosing art for your home you can either go modern or traditional.
Our homes can be a reflection of our own personality. Be sure to choose art that you like as it should reflect and be as unique as you. You wouldn’t want to choose something solely based on opinions of others and a month later you find that you simply don’t like it. Remember if you have any doubts about buying a piece then it is probably not for you. You should know when you have found the right artwork for you, as you will feel a connection to it. Try not to worry too much about it as often time it is the artwork that chooses you.
Different living areas in your home can have their own very unique energy and create various moods. So for example you may go to your bedroom to be at peace and rest from the hectic day. Here you may want to choose a piece of work that makes you feel tranquil and at peace. Where as in your living room you may want a vibrant energetic piece that will also stand out and impress your guests. In your study or office inspiration artwork can be a good idea.
The key word here is feeling. How would you like to feel and what mood would you like to create with your art choice. Seeking the professional advice of an interior designer
